I thoroughly enjoy playing every song in each book with my pianist. The arrangements for both instruments are fantastic. It's like my flute is talking to the piano and visa versa. I am hoping that Flute Stylings 6 will be coming out soon. Joel needs to keep going with these great works.
Beautiful arrangements! Each song is sensitive yet fun. Moderate difficulty but very worth the effort to prepare. All of Raneyās Flute Stylings volumes are excellent. We enjoy playing every song and will be looking for the next volume!
I love everything about this book. Great song selection throughout, and the arrangements fabulous, both challenging to play and inspiring to listen to. One of Joel's bests!
I have Flute Stylings 2 and 3 arranged by Joel Raney, and bought this latest collection because I loved the arrangements, and this latest book does not disappoint! The music is beautiful, the piano accompaniment enhances the flute, and the pieces are challenging without being too difficult to master. I have one complaint and that is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. On Let All Things Now Living, the accompaniment CD has 8 bars of music that the flute part does not have, nor is it in the accompanying piano book. It took a few tries to figure out the problem was not me!! Otherwise, I love the music and look forward to many hours of playing!
Thank you Joy for pointing this out! The following errata sheet has been included in the book to resolve this issue: NOTE: On track #4, āLet All Things Now Living,ā there are 8 additional measures of piano solo that donāt appear in the score. When playing along with the CD, the flute should do the following: - Change all the notes in measure 114 to high G. - Change measure 115 to become a quarter note high G, followed by a half rest. - Insert 8 measures of rest after measure 115.
